As air to air heat exchanger is relatively a new cooling product. There are few feedbacks to some common inquiries about it.
Literally speaking, heat exchange describes a process that thermal energy moves from one object to another in a different temperature. Heat exchanger air to air works in a repetitive manner that uses a heat pipe to transfer heat from a hot enclosure to the cooler ambient air. The heat pipe is an evacuated tube filled with a special refrigerant liquid. This refrigerant boils when absorbing heat from the hot air in the enclosure. The resultant vapor rises to the top of the tube and is condensed by the cooler ambient air when discharging its heat.
In the other word, air to air heat exchanger makes full use of colder ambient temperatures, while ensuring the independence of the internal and external air circuit to perform heat dissipation within a closed loop enclosure.
Because of working principle of air to air heat exchanger, it is a closed loop cooling system that is solely applicable for a sealed enclosure or cabinet in which the temperature is warmer than ambient temperature, so as let air heat exchanger functions normally.
In a working enclosure heat exchanger, components use no electrical energy except for fans that are required to circulate air inside the electrical enclosure and to blow outside air over the top of the heat pipe. Whereas, enclosure air conditioner consumes much more power enabling whole system to run. Hence, air to air heat exchanger is more energy efficient.
Low energy cost and Low maintenance cost. The only power-consuming component is fans which can be supported by solar power. Air to air heat exchanger heat pipes have no moving parts, requiring only occasional inspection and cleaning of the heat pipe fins and external air circulation fans, even in dusty environments air filters are not required.
Heat exchanger air to air can easily be attached to an enclosure by cutting air circulation holes on the side, then sealed using a supplied sealing gasket. A power supply is required for the air circulation fans. If door is where air heat exchanger is embedded, making sure the door is strong enough to support the weight of air to air heat exchanger without toppling over.
